Class Teaching Session on Adult CPR & Defibrillation at Sainthia Nursing Institute

1. Introduction & Objectives

A class teaching session was conducted for the 4th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students of Sainthia Nursing Institute on 03 September 2026 by Mr. Subhayu Mondal. The session focused on Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the principles of defibrillation. The teaching was conducted using audio-visual aids, interactive explanation, and practical demonstration.

2. Objectives of the Teaching Session

  • To explain the importance of early recognition and response in a cardiac emergency.
  • To describe the basic steps of Adult CPR.
  • To demonstrate correct positioning and chest compression technique.
  • To explain the role and safe use of an AED/defibrillator.
  • To enable students to observe and participate in a practical CPR-related demonstration.

3. Teaching–Learning Methods Used

The class was conducted through a combination of lecture, PowerPoint presentation, demonstration and student participation. The projected teaching material presented the Adult CPR sequence, including calling for help, chest compressions, rescue breaths, early use of AED and continuation of CPR until appropriate help arrives.

4. Conduct of the Session

Mr. Subhayu Mondal delivered the session in a structured manner. The students were seated in the classroom and actively observed the presentation and practical demonstration. A simulated patient was positioned on a teaching bed to demonstrate emergency assessment and CPR-related skills. Students were also allowed to participate in the practical component under supervision.

5. Student Participation

The students showed active interest throughout the session. They observed the sequence of adult CPR, listened to the procedure explanation, and participated in the hands-on demonstration. The interactive approach helped reinforce both theoretical understanding and practical skill development.

6. Conclusion

The class teaching session was completed on 03 September 2026. The combination of lecture, audio-visual presentation, demonstration, and student participation supported effective learning. The session contributed to the development of essential emergency nursing knowledge and practical awareness among the 4th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students.
